Trinity for Saint and King by Justin Langham
Trinity for Saint and King by Justin Langham
A product of a combination of inspiration and necessity, this piece was created within 48 hours of its premier at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the dedication of their newly refurbished pipe organ. It is a programmatic work that chronicles the three occasions that the instrument has been redone, and draws musical material from the familiar Hymn to St. Anthony, which can be heard in the opening of the piece. The instruments original installation in 1915, the lightning strike in 1970, and the most recent in 2015 are all represented throughout this work in various ways, finishing in a grand fashion signaling the triumphant return of the pipe organ, the king of instruments.
